May 2025 - Home Updates
On May 1, I obviously waited until the day before my younger sister Devon’s 26th birthday to get her a present. I typically always get her gift cards or something wellness related. Two years ago, I got her a gift card to local med-spa, which she still hasn’t used. Honestly, I could steal it back and she’d have no idea. This year, I decided to get her couple cute pillows, from World Market. Devon also has her own business making pottery and macrame called @braids.beads.bowls.bydev. Watching her grow her business into a profitable side gig, has truly been inspirational. We have the same taste in fashion, makeup, home decor and overall style so it’s pretty normal to find us using each other’s things. Now she’s getting ready to buy her first home and I’m obviously her agent. She wants to do something similar to what I was able to do and potentially purchase a duplex or multifamily to help pay the mortgage. Leading up to Mother’s Day and a yearly 10 day vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina my mom and I planted some flowers for Mother’s Day and she bought me daisies! She’s seriously the best. During the middle of the month is typically when all of my design magazines get delivered (Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, and Elle Decor.) All of my magazines are on the coffee table in my living room, doubling as decor. My mom bought me a Restoration Hardware hardcover book to display with my other interior design books. She always provides inspiration, and is the first person I go to, to bounce ideas off of. As for vacation packing, I have become much better at it over the years. Homeownership has taught me to appreciate quality. Owning fewer, higher quality pieces is better than having a bunch of lower quality items that won’t last. Buying clothing I actually love and can wear on repeat without lowering the quality, just makes more sense. That being said recently, I’ve been eyeing up the Beis travel collection to upgrade my luggage. Shay Mitchell reminds me of myself and she’s just as into the power of manifestation as I am. This year I packed my favorite tank tops from Athleta, leggings from Lulu, bikinis from Victoria’s Secret, Billabong and Hurley. My airplane goto set is from Vuori along with a spare blanket, since I’m always freezing even in the days leading up to summer. Cole loves to fly first class so we’re typically pretty eager getting to the airport.
The villa’s are on the beach and apart of Marriott Vacation Club. The resort offers free drinks on tap every morning, the beach bar offers a full menu of food and drinks, and complimentary golf cart rides around the property. The trip was filled with daily beach days, bikes rides, and our favorite food places- Nectar, One Hot Momma’s, Poseidon, and The Salty Dog Cafe. For the past couple of years we have gone to Poseidon’s country night, where we all dance to country music with our cowboy boots on. HHI is one of our favorite places to slow down.
