August Home Updates
Home & Business
August was another whirlwind month at my 1930’s multifamily home in Jenkintown, PA. Between interior design projects, exterior updates, and real estate decisions, I stayed focused on making intentional progress. I love sharing how my home updates connect with design-forward living here in the Philadelphia suburbs, especially across Montgomery County and Bucks County.
Inside the House
This month was all about the details. We added new trim work and started prepping walls for fresh paint — the kind of step that instantly elevates a space. I also began working on baseboard trim in a few areas, which really helps tie the rooms together while keeping the home’s 1930’s charm intact.
Outside & DIY
August was full of exterior progress.
Deck Expansion: On the very last day of the month, we finalized our deck plans and even got the base built. Finally seeing it come together after all the planning felt like such a milestone.
Shed Updates: Cole sealed the shed floor with a rubber-like coating and started building shelving while I sorted through leftover renovation materials. Having organized storage is such a game-changer.
Backyard & Front Yard: We started adding river jack rocks in the backyard for a cleaner, more intentional look. Out front, I went with faux plants to keep the curb appeal fresh but low-maintenance.
Design & Purchases
This month also sparked some fun design planning. We used AI renderings to test out different deck extension options so we could visualize what makes the most sense long term.
And the best part — Cole surprised me with the Article bedframe I’ve wanted for years as a birthday gift. It won’t arrive until October, but it has already inspired me to plan a full bedroom refresh with layered textures and timeless, design-forward details.
Business & Real Estate
On the business side, August brought some big decisions. I officially decided to hang my real estate license with Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach in Jenkintown. Staying local feels right for this season — I want to focus on helping clients in Montgomery County and Bucks County find homes and see the design potential in their spaces.
Alongside real estate, I’ve been managing HOA communities, including monthly site inspections for more than 600 homes. Balancing design, real estate, and property management keeps me connected to so many aspects of home and community living in the Philadelphia suburbs.
Wrapping Up
From trim work and deck progress to shed organization, backyard upgrades, design purchases, and real estate milestones — August was packed with intentional updates. Every project is one step closer to creating design-forward spaces that blend historic character with modern living, while continuing to grow Haley’s Homes LLC here in Jenkintown and throughout the Philadelphia suburbs.
